HISTORY
Thousands of years ago, the only mode of transportation that our homo-sapiens ancestors had was traveling places on foot. Walking miles and miles in search of food, and discovering new territories without any moving gadgets was no child’s play. But as the saying goes “NO PAIN NO GAIN”, man had to endure uncalled and extreme challenges only to give birth to discoveries that would change their course of fate. The man decided to take the assistance of his horses and strong alike animals which would take him places. Realizing that it wasn’t a permanent solution to his commute issues, he motivated his thinking tank’ to explore more…..AND MIRACLE TOOK BIRTH!
The wheel was the greatest invention of mankind. And that led to the invention of carts that stood steady on the wheels, enabling him to travel from one place to another for various reasons.
NEVER DYING ATTITUDE PROVES BENEFICIAL
But clearly, he wasn’t satisfied with his greatest invention. His curiosity propelled him to keep hunting for solutions that’ll guide him to manufacture the unimaginable. Frenchman ‘Nicholas-Joseph Cugnot’ built a self-propelled vehicle with a steam engine in 1769. The cart, designed to move artillery pieces, moved at a walking pace (2 mph or 3.2 km/h) and had to stop every 20 minutes to build a new head of steam. nother automotive enthusiast Jean Lenoir invented the two-stroke double-acting single-cylinder gas engine. The engine worked very much like a simple double-acting steam engine. At each stroke gas and air were rawn into the cylinder and fired by an electric spark; on the return stroke, the burnt gases were flushed out.
MANUFACTURING COMPLICATIONS
Multiple trials and tribulations concluded that the newbie inventors failed to determine the exact production cost. Unprecedented hours of trying to finalize a design concept, unregulated safety standards, and the lack of technological know-how were a few challenges the inventors experienced while manufacturing vehicles in the early stages. But again, they tackled every problem with determination and curiosity aiding future generations to commute with safety and ease. But all being said and done, what we have not been able to completely halt is the extraction of fossil fuels. With millions of cars running on the roads globally, it’s hard to gauge its implications on the environment, and on the planet.
RISE OF EVs
Robert Anderson was the first guy to develop the first crude electric vehicle in 1832. Electric cars finally became practical in the 1870s and there’s been no looking back since then. Advancements in technological inventions have enabled the world to witness a positive shift toward a better, greener tomorrow with EVs being the best alternative to fuel-powered vehicles. By the end of 2022, 26 million electric cars were roaming on the roads globally. This is proof that the world is genuinely interested in restoring nature to its normal state. Even the EV 2-wheeler market which halted at 2000 vehicles in 2013 has boomed to reach a surprising level of 6,00,000 vehicles by 2022. By 2023, we’re expecting EV 2-wheeler sales to reach 22 million alone in the Indian market. Our Joy e-bike, one of the leaders of the EV 2-wheeler market in India aims to attain 25% of the total EV market share by 2025. Technology has been the backbone of our achievements. We’re constantly making efforts to improvise our techno-landscape to save the planet. Recently, we have initiated a new lithium-ion battery assembly line with a production capacity of 1 GWh/year. And with this, we intend to achieve the highest quality standards by gaining control over the quality and standards of our battery packs. This technological invention is our contribution to solidifying India’s existing EV ecosystem. Technology has played a crucial role in making our everyday lives much easier and hassle-free, and the same counts for the commute. Prolific advancements have been made in vehicle technology like the hyperloop, an underground transportation tunnel for long-distance and speedy transport. In the future, don’t be surprised if your see cars flying over you, or AI-generated cars taking full control of the wheel, because that’s what technology can gift us if
utilized intelligently.
